At Wine Country to the Rescue, we believe in building a safer future for our community, and that starts with empowering the next generation. In 2017, we proudly donated $31,250 to Sonoma County Safety PALS (Prevention and Life Safety), a groundbreaking program dedicated to educating children about fire and life safety.
This donation helped expand a vital initiative that reaches thousands of Sonoma County students every year, equipping them with knowledge and skills to stay safe in emergencies and everyday situations.
What is Safety PALS?
Safety PALS is a collaborative effort between fire departments, law enforcement, emergency medical services, and community organizations across Sonoma County. This unique prevention and life safety program is specifically designed for grades 1-3, a crucial age for introducing safety concepts that last a lifetime.
At the heart of the program is a bilingual theatrical production that uses clowns, puppets, music, dance, and vibrant characters to engage young audiences. Through this entertaining and educational performance, children learn:
How to Call 911: Ensuring kids know how to access emergency services.
Fire Safety: Teaching what to do if their home catches fire.
Crosswalk and Stranger Safety: Encouraging situational awareness and safe behavior.
Anti-Bullying and SMART Train Safety: Addressing everyday concerns with practical solutions.
Safety PALS makes safety education fun, memorable, and accessible for all children.
Removing Barriers to Safety Education
One of the most remarkable aspects of Safety PALS is that it’s completely FREE. In addition to the program itself, Safety PALS covers transportation costs for schools that require busing, ensuring that no child misses out on this life-saving education.
By the end of 2016, the program had already reached nearly 15,000 students, and with ongoing support, that number continues to grow.

Teaching children safety skills at a young age helps create safer families, schools, and communities. Safety PALS empowers students with the confidence and knowledge they need to make smart decisions in potentially dangerous situations.
