We’re thrilled to announce an exciting new chapter for Wine Country to the Rescue! Known for our charity auction and dinner dance supporting firefighters and the communities of Geyserville, Healdsburg, Cloverdale, and Knights/Franz Valleys, we are now extending our impact through scholarships for high school seniors.

This initiative reflects our commitment to not only supporting our first responders today but also investing in the future generation of community protectors.

About the Scholarships

These scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $2,500, are designed to help high school seniors in our region pursue careers in Fire Technology, Emergency Medical Services, or Forestry—fields that are vital to the safety and sustainability of our communities. Up to 10 scholarships will be awarded, ensuring that multiple students have the opportunity to further their education and make a difference.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply, students must:

  • Be a high school senior.

  • Be pursuing a degree or certification in Fire Technology, Emergency Medical Services, or Forestry.

  • Reside or attend school in one of the following communities:

    • Healdsburg

    • Northern Sonoma County Fire District

    • Cloverdale Fire District

Application Process

Interested students can apply online at WineCountryToTheRescue.com/scholarships by March 1, 2025.

The application requires:

  • A resume.

  • A 250-word essay explaining your interest in the field and goals for the future.

  • One letter of reference.

  • Financial need documentation.

Applications will be evaluated based on GPA, financial need, and the strength of the essay. Scholarships will be presented during local scholarship award nights when applicable.

How Funds Are Distributed

Scholarship funds will be awarded directly to recipients after they successfully complete at least one course in their chosen field:

  • 50% of funds are paid after the first semester if the student is unable to take a course in their field.

  • The remaining 50% is paid after successful completion of a related course in the second semester.

This ensures that students stay on track with their educational goals while receiving support throughout their first year.

Supporting the Future of First Responders

By funding these scholarships, we’re helping to grow a pipeline of skilled professionals ready to serve and protect our communities. If you or someone you know is passionate about fire services, EMS, or forestry, we encourage you to apply!

Please direct all questions about the scholarship program to WineCountryToTheRescue.com/scholarships and refrain from contacting your local fire department directly.

Let’s work together to build a stronger, safer future for Sonoma County!
